2024 saw the first year of the festival, combining a programme of our main concerts at the Lit & Phil, with workshops and performances for school children, care home residences, and talented teenaged musicians.

Opening Concert, Thursday 29th August

Mel Bonis Soir-Matin - Daphne Delfas violin; Cameron Walls cello & Daniel Liu piano

Newcastle born composer Joanna Wards Fraying was performed by Seth Collin, cello, and Isabelle Allan, violin;

Beethoven – Piano trio Op. 1. no. 3 in C minor
Performed by Alma Vink, violin; Seth Collin, cello
& Levi Collin piano.

Earlier in the day we also heard some fantastic school-age
musicians from the North East perform works by Gliere,
Popper, and Mozart, who had been receiving coaching over
the Summer from trustee and cellist Deb Thorne and
our artistic director Seth Collin

Our finale concert took place on 31st August, wrapping up the main festival with Anton Webern’s beautiful Langsamer Satz performed by Alma Vink, violin; Daphne Delfas, violin, Matthew Hayes, viola & Cameron Walls, cello

John Garth’s Cello Concerto op.1 no. 2 in B flat was performed by Seth Collin, Isabelle Allan, Alma Vink, Matthew Hayes, Cameron Walls, and Richard Taylor (harpsichord)

The main concert programme ended with Schubert’s String Quintet, performed by Daphne Delfas, violin; Isabelle Allan, violin; Matthew Hayes, viola; Cameron Walls, cello & Seth Collin, cello

On 4th September the festival ended with visits to schools and care homes in West Denton, at the wonderful West Denton Primary, Knop Law Primary and Comfort House care home. KS1 and KS2 were treated to a musical safari of swans from Saint-Saens and Schubert, butterflies from Fauré and tunes from Star Wars and Harry Potter
